As some of you may have seen, my hair has gotten ridiculously long over the last few weeks as hairdressers have been closed and I haven’t been able to get it cut. Not only is it starting to look messy but it’s getting a bit uncomfortable as well. The hair needs to go but rather than just a trim, I’ve decided to brave the shave for Age UK Suffolk – it’s all coming off!
Age UK Suffolk are doing some excellent work supporting the elderly in our Town during the pandemic including through their Good Day Calls Campaign which reaches out to those who are isolated or are in need of food and other essentials. I hope that by braving the shave, I can do what I can to raise money for this important cause. Hundreds of calls have been made through the Good Day Calls Campaign so far and it would be great if shaving my hair could allow for more calls to happen.
I’ve been in close contact with Age UK Suffolk throughout this Covid-19 outbreak, including around establishing Talks with Tom where anyone in Ipswich who needs a chat can talk to me. Talks with Tom is now going strongly and I’ve spoken to a number of people across the Town about all kinds of issues. Talks with Tom remains open to anyone who would like a chat and if you email: [email protected] my Office will be happy for us to arrange a time for us to chat, and of course, views on my new haircut will be on the table as a topic of conversation.
So I said it had to go and now it has!!
Over the last week or so I have been fundraising for Age UK Suffolk in a bid to help them provide much needed support to the vulnerable during the COVID-19 crisis. So far I have raised just over £1125 and even though the deed has now been done, I do hope that people will still be kind enough to donate.
